Film

I just received back a role of film that I kindof developed successfully (something to do with not reading directions... surprise!). Out of the 36 exposures I was only able to salvage 17, but I still feel optimistic about the process. It feels nice to develop film; the anticipation, the wonder, the lost immediacy and perfection. All good things to practice.

Moon Phases

Last week during the Lunar Ecplise in Scorpio, we took a moment to honor the full moon and gaze at her beauty. It was chilly out, and I had just returned home after a long day at work, but we stepped outside anyways to take a peek together. There is something so primal about standing there, breathing in the crisp night air, full of stillness, and welcoming a gift.

Afterwords I was searching for an illustration that detailed the phases of the moon. Although I have had many a moon calendar over the years, I was looking for something more broad and less day-to-day specific. I found this image on tumblr, and I'm not sure of the original artist but the image is exactly what I was hoping for.

"from deserts to concrete jungles to seas,
lila roo creates -- the only constant amidst her transience.
she seeks to find and create dreamscapes, ritual & reality.
her art is an experimental and physical act, blending body & material, natural & synthetic.
transformation is the center of her work,
both the blooming and disintegration of form, and rebirth of exhausted resources.
painfully, plastic garbage is the most plentiful resource our modern world.
but she believes in beauty
and so she strips it to shreds, braids it to rope and searches for settings to command it’s movement and possibility.
a creature of flight, her work is mobile, created with the intent to travel, to teach and
to learn from the world: beast, man, child, land, air and sea." - Lila Roo
